We are very proud to be an RSE employer supporting the Pacific Nations. Our employees on the RSE Scheme come from Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Solomons, Fiji and Tuvalu. Whilst they are in New Zealand for up to 7 months each year they learn valuable work habits and specialised skills, some of our RSE employees are about to return for their 9th season with Hortus.

They are able to earn a lot more money in this short amount of time than they could earn in their home countries, this allows them to build sturdy homes, pay for their children’s school fees, build community kitchens and gain access to medical care. The development in these countries as a result of the RSE scheme has been phenomenal. The man hours these employees provide allows New Zealand to meet labour demands during peak seasons throughout the Horticulture and Viticulture industries.
